Cultural Liaisons – Students from Niles West High School’s Peer Mediator and Dance Marathon programs take the grantees on outings to Millenium Park, local universities, the beach, bowling, and even movies to build friendships and improve English skills. Several students work with the girls the first week they arrive to ease them into speaking English and to build personal connections.
Host Families – Families provide housing and meals to two girls at a time for two and a half weeks. This gives them a home base and builds cultural understanding for both the families and the girls through shared meals, conversation, and outings.
